The AceK9 Barrier Blaster
is a patented
(Patent# 6902473)
vehicle ventilation
conduit system extending the airflow of
cool air into the back cage of police
cruisers, while at the same time,
cooling the rear housing of the laptop
computer and the mobile inverter box.
This cooling package is an extension of
the existing air-conditioning vents. It
is non-obtrusive, easy to install, and
inexpensive. The product was designed
and manufactured to custom fit Ford
Crown Victoria police units, however it
is adaptable for other vehicles makes.
Currently the caged back seat of a
cruiser has little to no airflow. This
unique system can also be easily
attached to a K-9 unit cage, keeping a
constant, cool air flow throughout the
rear caged area to ensure the health and
safety to your K-9 partner.
The AceK9 Barrier Blaster
system can also be used to convey heat
to the rear of the police cruisers in
regions that have cold winter months.
The valves to the laptop and inverter
box must be closed at this time.
The AceK9 Barrier Blaster Basic (w/out
Computer Attachments) This unit
is manufactured using a 12VDC blower and
shut off valves to each individually
cooled area, making it possible to keep
the valves for the inverter box and the
laptop closed. The basic unit is
designed for police cruisers which
currently do not utilize laptop
computers. Attachments can be purchased
when/if a laptop computer is installed.
AceK9
Barrier Blaster Basic $239.00 ea. Plus
Shipping, Handling & Taxes if Applicable
Optional Computer Attachment $29.95 ea.

3 REASONS WHY LAW
ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES SHOULD INSTALL
THE ACEK9 BARRIER BLASTER
1) Reduces Civil Liability
2) Increases Officer
Safety
3) Protects Electronic
Computer Equipment
A standard police unit with a Plexiglas
partition and a slide window has
approximately a fifteen [15] to twenty
[20] degree difference between the front
seat and rear caged seating area of the
vehicle. There is little to no airflow
to the partitioned rear seat. Any
vehicle which has been shut off and
closed up easily reaches temperatures of
up to one hundred and forty [140]
degrees in a short period of time.
Research shows the temperature can rise
as much as forty [40] degrees in 5
minutes. Temperatures will stay hot
longer in the caged backseat even after
the vehicle has been turned on for a
long period of time because of the
restricted airflow.
Medical research shows that persons with
certain health conditions, such as heart
disease, high blood pressure,
respiratory illness, and or taking
certain medications, either prescribed
or illegal, are subject to hyperthermia.
Excitement and agitation also can
elevate the body temperature and
increase heart rate. These unknown
factors at the time a subject is
detained contribute to an even higher
liability when placed in a patrol car
without good ventilation. In high heat
conditions it is known that even rolling
down the windows only slightly lowers
the temperature. The longer the subject
is held in the elevated temperature, the
higher the risk for dehydration and
hyperthermia.
Modern law enforcement agencies are now
installing laptop computers in their
police cruisers. This enables officers
to fill out their paperwork in the unit
while the prisoner sits, handcuffed, in
the caged backseat for even longer
periods of time without proper
ventilation. After being apprehended, a
subject could be detained in the vehicle
for a considerable amount of time while
the officer is interviewing witnesses
and completing the necessary paper work.
The bottom line is that all agencies are
CIVILLY LIABLE for
prisoners while they are in custody, in
the backseat of police units. The
agencies are obligated to provide the
best available environment, in order to
maximize the prisoners well being while
minimizing liability. Prisoners placed
into the rear caged area without proper
cooling and ventilation, who may have
health problems or are taking medication
or under the influence, can
significantly increase this liability
factor. Up until now there has not been
a solution for this problem. The
AceK9
Barrier Blaster is that
solution.
The SAFETY of officers
is another important reason for
departments to install The
AceK9
Barrier Blaster. In today's
society there is an increase of
contagious, infectious airborne diseases
such as active tuberculosis as well as
viruses and influenzas. An officer can
better isolate himself or herself from
the prisoner by closing the Plexiglas
slide window. The closed slide window
has little effectiveness in cooling and
ventilating the rear of the unit. While
having the window open, actually
increases the risk for an officer to
contract an airborne disease or
respiratory infection when a prisoner is
in custody. The AceK9 Barrier Blaster
reduces the risk and liability
while providing the prisoner with a
constant flow of ventilated, cool air.
This ventilation conduit system not only
PROTECTS the officer
and his/her detainee, it also reduces
the risk to the vehicle's electronic
equipment by keeping the laptop and
inverter box cool at all times while the
vehicle is running. This reduces
overheating and possible damage to
expensive electronic investments.
Keeping the laptop computer cool will
help prevent the computer from shutting
down due to overheating and may extend
the life of the laptop and the inverter
box.
The AceK9 Barrier Blaster by
Radiotronics, Inc. is the
only 12V blower motor ventilation conduit system
available. It is an economical solution
to all of above-mentioned problems with
today's patrol cars. |
